Still waiting for VSU FA committee to render a decision on my future. Dad’s back in the hospital and his prognosis looks worse and worse with each passing day. And I’ve developed a Phil Collins’ fixation.
I really don’t know which is going to end me first.
Been sick, been sore, been out of “it”, been in bed ALOT, etc, etc.
I was referring to My Lovely Sam Soon in my last post and despite loving the series, I can’t bring myself to watch the last two episodes yet. Even though I’ve seen them before and I know what happens, I just lost interest in those two eps. I dont like Heejin, I dont like being coerced into suddenly liking her.
My glittery souvineer
A and I went and saw Wicked on the 6th. I enjoyed myself, don’t get me wrong, but I think I was expecting something else. Overall the show was flashy and very entertaining but there were a few places where the performers missed cues and skipped lined, which when it comes to anything live is to be expected. I think waiting 5 years to see the show after listening to the original cast recording and having a version of the show in my head also made the real thing pale in comparison. I remembered every line and was able to sing along WITHOUT having people turning around to tell me to stop strangling the cat. The girl who performed Elphaba was the second understudy and she blew the roof off the theatre even with forgetting a few words here and there. Can’t imagine what the scheduled actress would of been like in comparison. Glinda/Galinda didn’t really do it for me. The actress who played her was kinda lifeless in a way. But I guess it doesnt help that Im always going to compare her to Kristin Chenowith. Fiyero again was an understudy…and he kinda sucked until it came time for “As Long as You’re Mine” but even then he was largely forgettable. The song is Elphie’s through and through.
The Straz Center was very nice, valet parking was a little overkill as well, the parking deck turned out to be alot closer than I’d of imagined. Tampa is very pretty, very clean and only now beginning to sprawl. I wouldn’t mind checking out the private U of Tampa if they had a master’s program that peaked my interest. The campus was right next to the Straz Center. Sadly I think their Grad School is around the same level of development as Thomas University is. Maybe something at the very public U of South Florida?
Overall the trip was nice and enjoyable. It was good to get out of Thomas County for a few hours and left me wishing we had stayed for a night or two just to see the town a little more. I definitely want to return and visit Tampa for a stay next time.
Back to the present:
I had a nice surprise this week in discovering that TNT has started showing a syndicated Supernatural. Right now I’m listening to a marathon of season 3 episodes and being pleasantly reminded of how much I hated Bella and Ruby upon introduction. Bobby is still my favourite. as long as Kripke doesn’t get it in his head to off another father figure then I won’t plot his demise.
The snow on Friday was a letdown. 30 minutes of flakes and that was it. I’d of rather of had chocolate.
I’m home alone again. R is on his way to Birmingham and S is in town for the week. Both dogs are asleep on my bed, sounds of soft snores chase down the hallway to where I’m sitting. I’m getting sleepy.
